Scholarship Information

Texas Tech University has created a new annual scholarship in memory of Seth Rains, the 23-year-old graduate who was struck and killed by a driver while walking home from a concert with friends in the Dallas Design District in July 2025.

The Seth Rains Scholarship Fund was established to support students who embody Seth’s passion for learning and commitment to helping others. This fund is not just about continuing his education—it’s about ensuring that his legacy lives on in the hearts of the students who receive it.

Details

The scholarship is awarded annually to a student pursuing a degree in Financial Planning, with preference given to individuals who show a dedication to community service and academic excellence - values Seth held dearly.

​

To honor his memory, this scholarship will support students in our program who embody Seth's spirit. Students must demonstrate financial need, maintain at last a 2.65 GPA, and give back to their communities, whether through faith, fraternity/sorority life, or service within the program.
